This was the very last giraffe that we visited, partly because its presentation was delayed while the artists completed their work, and partly because it was hidden in an out-of-the-way art studio that was very difficult to find!
But it was worth the trouble, as this was one of the most beautiful giraffes in the collection. Called The Very Last Daisy Rothschild (after the endangered subspecies) artists Donna Turtle Saten and Bernie Harfleet created its distinctive spots out of plastic animals painted black, each individually nailed into place. They stood out vividly against the orange backdrop, and the finished effect was amazing.
